In this project, we had to create a clay tile based on a biome. The two biomes I researched are the Aquatic and Tropical biomes. This project took a long time but I enjoyed it. After we had our tiles made we could finally start carving and sculpting our clay into our biome. The biome I ended up choosing was the Aquatic biome. I fell in love with the idea of creating a corral reef.
I had worked with clay a little before starting this project and I had confidence that I would do great. I found working with clay to be easy and fun. I had fun carving and shaping things and at times would get lost in my work. Class would fly by and I would get sad when it ended. I loved discovering new techniques and I even loved how messy it was.
When I first started sculpting, I had this vision in my head of exactly how I wanted it to look like but it didn't turn out like that. It still turned out great. My original idea would have taken so much longer. So I'm happy that I did my tile the way I did.
At first painting the tile looked ugly but at the end when I looked at the finished product I loved it. This was by far my favorite project and I will definitely be working with clay at home now.
